Responsible Gaming

This page gives practical advice for keeping gambling under control, lists the independent help organisations linked from this site, and explains what this site can and cannot do for you.

Budget

The simplest protection is a number you choose before you start, while you are calm and not reacting to a win or a loss.

  • Set the amount in advance. A limit decided mid-session is usually shaped by how the session is going, not by what you can afford.
  • Treat it as already spent. If you think of the money as the price of the entertainment, losing it is not a debt you need to recover.
  • Keep borrowed money out of it. Credit, loans or money set aside for bills turn a bad night into a long-term problem, because the loss stays after the game ends.

Losses

Chasing a loss means raising stakes or playing longer to win back what is gone. It is the most common way a planned budget gets broken.

  • Never chase. Earlier results do not change the odds of the next one, so bigger bets only make the potential loss larger.
  • Stop when the budget is gone. Ending the session at your chosen number keeps one bad outcome from growing into several.
  • Use account tools at the destination. Spending caps, loss caps, reality checks, cooling-off periods and self-exclusion are arranged inside your own account with the operator you play with. This build has no account, no form and no server-side application, so nothing published here can switch one on, check one or enforce one.

Breaks

Time disappears quickly during play, and fatigue makes it harder to stick to decisions you made earlier.

  • Take regular breaks. Stepping away lets you look at your spending with a clear head before you continue.
  • Notice the warning signs. Hiding play from others, gambling to escape stress, or feeling restless when not playing all suggest it has stopped being entertainment.
  • Involve someone early. Talking to a person you trust before things escalate is easier than explaining a large loss afterwards, and an outside view can spot patterns you miss.

Help

Every page of this site, this one included, carries links to six independent gambling-help organisations:

  • BeGambleAware
  • Gamble Aware
  • Gambling Therapy
  • G GamCare Gambling Support: Starts Here
  • GAM STOP
  • NCPG

These are the only outbound links on the whole site that are not commercial. Unlike the operator links, they carry no sponsored marking, they are set to nofollow, and they open in a separate tab on each organisation's own website. This site receives nothing when you follow them. No advertising or behavioural profiling network is present in these pages, so nothing here is targeted at a reader who has shown risky behaviour.

Age

Gambling is for adults only, and the eighteen-and-over restriction is repeated throughout this site, including on the front page.

  • No checks happen here. Nobody's age is verified on this site and no gambling takes place on it. Any check of that kind happens at the destination.
  • Protect younger people at home. Keep gambling accounts and payment details out of reach of anyone under eighteen on shared devices.
